Dominican Republic Trip Itinerary
July 31 – August 8
This is our third year in service in the Dominican Republic. The NC East District has expressed a commitment to walk with them in the process of developing the Youth Camp ministry of their District. Once again we would like to send a team that could participate with the Dominican Youth Camp, and serve in various churches throughout the country. The complete itinerary is still taking shape, but we do have the most important information nailed down (the dates), as well as a targeted cost breakdown for the trip.
My vision for this year’s team is to work at the Youth Camp, participating in all of the activities, using our talents, leading in creative dramas, sports, speaking and sharing our testimonies. We will then reach out to a few of the Wesleyan churches for the purpose of doing children’s ministry or youth activities, and an evangelistic event. Depending on the number of team members and the ability to work out the logistics, there is a possibility that the team may divide in to two or three groups and spend the ministry days at a specific church. Activities at a local church may include a work day, outreach day, and an evangelistic event at the church.
Mission Trip Costs:
o Airfare $ 700.00 (Approximately)
o In-Country Expenses $ 1000.00
o Trip Insurance $ 26.40
The in-country costs are a pre-set number that is established by the mission work there in the Dominican Republic. It covers food, lodging, transportation, translators as well as a day-trip to a resort on their day off. Because the work there is new, the churches are small and the network to manage teams is still developing. Therefore the teams will stay in local hotels and will eat at local restaurants most of the time. These in-country costs are $125.00 per day, per team member.
