CHANGE THE STORY: THE COMPASSION EXPERIENCE VISITS CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
Interactive Tour hosted by newhope church Immerses People Into The Real Life World Of Impoverished Children On Three Continents
Durham, NC - The Compassion International Mobile Experience tour makes a 4 day stop in Durham at newhope church Central Campus on December 13-16, 2013. The tour kicked off in Knoxville on July 19 and is making its way across the country to educate people about the lives of the more than 1.3 million children Compassion serves globally. Here is a video highlighting the experience - http://www.compassion.com/change/about-the-experience-video.htm
The Change The Story: The Compassion Experience is two trailers totaling 3,500 square foot that feature replicas of the homes of three Compassion beneficiaries who live in extreme poverty on three separate continents. In the twenty minutes it takes to tour the facility, visitors will fully experience the despair of poverty as they are immersed in littered streets and sounds of insecurity surrounding a closet-sized dwelling.
“It is our hope that people who walk through Change The Story will personally experience and celebrate the transformation of so many lives of children living in poverty, and, through that, realize their own personal transformation as so many do when they travel abroad and see poverty first hand.”
Created in a warehouse in Central City, Kentucky, Change The Story brings Americans as close as possible to the realities of over 1.3 million Compassion beneficiaries in 26 countries, whose households survive on less than USD$1 per day. Change the Story will stop at over 35 towns and travel 65,000 miles of the United States in a year.
newhope church is excited to host Change the Story, and sees it as a powerful tool to help people experience poverty and realize the blessings so many have in America. They hope it motivates people to further invest themselves into this great global cause. They extend the invitation to all in the central North Carolina area to participate in this free event and open to all!
