Ordination Service - August 25, 2013

The NC East District Memorial/Retirement Recognition/Awards/Licensing/Ordination service on August 25, 2013 at Asheboro Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church.

As you can see from the picture we were blessed with a full house, attendance was 800+.  General Superintendent Dr. Jo Anne Lyon was with us and preached a powerful Spirit-filled ordination message.

Memorial Service

In addition to remembering each lay member that had passed this past conference year District Superintendent Dan LeRoy gave a tribute to Rev. W. Vann Howard, Dr. Don K. Ledbetter, and Rev. Ronald W. Terry who passed away this past conference year.

Pastor Tommy Smith was awarded his 40 year service medallion.

Pastor Dan recognized the following retiring ministers; Dr. Clyde Dupin, Pastor Bob G. Freeman, Pastor Alfred Hurlburt, Pastor George Sheppard, and Pastor Roland Smith.  Each was presented a plaque and watch.

Pastor Dan announced the following awards and presented each with a plaque:
True Wesleyan Award (Lay persons)  Joyce Kinney, Ed Winslow

Charles E. Apple Legacy Award – Pastor Roger Coburn (Snow Camp Bethlehem)
Adam Crooks Award –Pastor Mark Atkins (on loan to South Carolina District)

Kermit W. Farlow Conference Evangelist Award –Pastor  Larry Moore (Sanford newhope)

Outstanding Young Leader Award – Pastor Brent Tysinger (Asheboro Rushwood Park)
Pastor of the Year Award – Pastor Tomas Manchego (Winston Salem El Aposento Alto)

The following were presented District Ministerial License for the first time:

Mark Atkins (on loan to South Carolina), Robbie Barnes-Youth Pastor Love Chapel Hill, Matt Brady-Connection Worship Thomasville Mt. Zion, Justin Maynard-Chaplain Wake-Med, David McDaniel-Youth Pastor Randleman First, Robert Meeks-Counselor Focus on Relationships, Martha Richardson-Christian Education and Senior Adult Pastor Salisbury Trinity.

The following were Validated as Ordained Ministers in The Wesleyan Church:

Tim Fox (transferring from Church of The Nazarene) Pastor at Goldsboro
John Gunter (transferring from Faith Baptist) Pastor at Liberty Mt. Olivet
Brian Wardlaw (transferring from Church of God of Holiness) Pastor at Troy First
